First U.K. edition. Published in June 1911, one month after the U.S. edition utilising the same sheets but with a new title page, stating “reprinted in June 1911” to the reverse, an errata page and completely different boards with the distinctive suffragette portcullis to the front. The book is firmly bound in the publisher’s purple cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt, green and white, the corners and spine ends are slightly bumped and rubbed with mild toning to the spine. The text block is slightly foxed and toned. An unusually attractive example of the U.K. first edition of Pankhurst’s history of the early days of the militant women’s suffrage movement.
