First edition. From the library of Richard Adams, with his suitably lagomorphic bookplate to the front endpaper. The book is bound by Bayntun Riviere in full blue leather, with gilt titles and tooling, marbled endpapers and gilt to all edges of the text block, the boards are slightly bowed and the spine is a little faded. The text block is slightly toned and foxed, but free from inscriptions. An attractive association copy of Hughes’ archetypal English public school story, famous for introducing to the world, albeit fleetingly, the character of the surprisingly loveable bully and braggard, Flashman.
