First edition. The book is firmly bound in the publisher’s clean red cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine, the extremities are a little bumped and rubbed and the spine is slightly faded. The text block is age browned with the bookplate of noted bibliophile, Michael Sadlier to the front pastedown. The dust jacket is supplied from a 2nd impression of the same year, with reviews to the front flap and a price of 3s. 6d. Net, but otherwise similar to the 1st, it is toned, more so to the spine and has been expertly restored, chiefly the top of the spine, affecting the author’s name and stretching round to the front panel to include most of the “Graham”, also the top corner of the rear flap. An unusually good example of the book in an original jacket, albeit from a 2nd impression.
