First edition. Inscribed by the author to the title page. The book is tightly and squarely bound in clean red cloth with bright gilt lettering. The text block is a little toned with minor foxing to the edges. The dust jacket is the original and not price clipped, it is very slightly toned with a little rubbing to the edges. A superb example of the fourth Sharpe novel, which is quite uncommon as a first edition.
