First edition. The book is firmly and squarely bound in clean red cloth, lettered in black, the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block is a little toned and foxed with some very faint tape burns to the endpapers, it is free from inscriptions. The dust jacket is the original, it is slightly toned, with minor fading to the spine, slight chipping and a few short closed tears to the edges, some repaired with small pieces of archival tape to the reverse. Brittain’s famous First World War memoir, uncommon as a first edition, particularly in the dust jacket.
